It is not possible to get a free domain name. And co.uks are not free.
My best suggestion to you is just to deal with being on freewebs until you can purchase your own domain name and hosting. If you do not want to be on a freeserver, then well, don’t have a site at all.
If this is not the answer you are looking for, then I am sorry, but really, the only answers you will get are answers like mine, and domain redirections, and stuff like that. Don’t believe me? Simply search for “free domain” in yahoo answers. I doubt that any of the other 1000+ other people who asked this same question found a free domain name. (That is not a domain redirection.)

You can get a free domain with hosting at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/office… I haven’t tried it myself though. It really is free, but you can’t upload an existing site and you have to use their site design tools. The main issue is that for it to be free, Microsoft puts ads on your site (as would anyone offering domain & hosting for free). The other issue is that there is no live support, if you have any problems you have to contact them by email.
If you need more design flexibility than the above offer, try http://www.oneworlddomains.com. I have used them for 2 – 3 years now. Domains registrations don’t cost much, about $8 per year last time I checked and they offer free hosting.
Hopefully one of these will work for you!

you can get .tk domains for free (but they do come with advertising.) however .co.uk are £2.50ish a year, is it really that expensive?

I agree with the tk but if you want a quick freebie that doesn’t sound too much like a 13 year old nsync fans website there is envy.nu. just goto envy.com and sign up.
