Domain Names .com And .co.uk?

If someone has already registered a domain name in the US with a .com ending, can you still set up a e-commerce business in the UK with a .co.uk ending without infringing copyright etc?

There’s nothing to stop you doing so other than the fact that people who know your business name may end up looking for you using the .com name. If you can find a slightly different name and buy both the .com and the .co.uk domains, you’ll be better off.
We had one of our .com domains snatched several years ago and people still go to it when looking for our business and are confused when it bears no relation to what we do.
    Good luck!

It shouldn’t be a problem. Unless you run your website very similarly to the existing .com one
You would have thought that other company would have already bought the .co.uk one!

Yes, if the UK version of your choosen name is still available.
    Good luck.
