I know there is whois protection to prevent people from viewing your personal info on sites like whois but is there such a protection to prevent people from finding out your website’s hosting company

    No.
    In order for your site to be reachable your IP address must be public.
    If your IP address is public then your hosting provider* can be found.
    * Note: It could be that its the host of your host that is found.
