What, exactly, is a domain name?

The Domain Name System was originally developed to help us navigate through the Internet. Every computer connected to the Internet has its own IP address, a string of numbers that identifies it to other computers -. Domain names are a way of pointing to a specific IP address to make things easier to remember so now you shop at Amazon.com, instead of 207,171,166,102!

The domain namemade in two parts, the name and the name is extension. The you choose can see your name, your business name, a phrase or a saying is. When choosing a domain, be careful to take your business to choose something easy to remember and is representative of you or. There are numerous resources to help in choosing a great name, search Google.com for the term "choosing a domain name.

The extension is the part that comes after the name, the most notable expansionis ". com. There are many extensions, some are only available to educational institutions (edu.) Whether the citizens of specific countries. The most common domain extensions registered now .. com, net,. org,. Info, and. biz. It is often recommended that when a domain name, you may register as many of the popular extensions if you can protect your brand.

Why would I want a domain name?

The main reason is that people register domainespecially because they are building a website, but there are other reasons too. The registration of domain names have become relatively cheap and the variety of uses for them have expanded. Some people register domain name for e-mail just so they can address a personal e-mail. John Doe can now email john@johndoe.com, for example. Education itself has developed in such a way that anyone can set up and maintain their own personal spoton the Web – it's not just for businesses. Blogging and forums (bulletin boards) have a very popular way for people to communicate with friends and family, post pictures and share other information, and your own domain name makes your blog easy. Web hosting companies offer personal accounts that allow you to e-mail to have a blog to create, and even your own personal website built at very low prices.

Even if you do not plan on a site now registration of your domain name is a good idea – you never know what you might wish to do in the future, from the start a home business like your grandchildren to take photos. As more domains are registered, it becomes more challenging the exact name you want to find. You can register for the domain of one to ten years, and registration is now assured it will be there for you when you're ready!

What should I buy my domain name?

> Domain Name assistants abound on the Internet, but make sure you register with an ICANN (Internet Corporation for assigned Names and Numbers) accredited registrar and registered in your name and email address. There are people who act on behalf of your name registration for you (as a webmaster), but be sure that they register in your name, not theirs. Even if you want to distance yourself from the daily operations of your website and domain, you will stillTo name the true owner of that. Domain registration is very easy on the Internet, using the registrar's Web site interface to select your name and place your order, even the less techno-savvy can get through it. Do not be afraid!

Domain registration provides a tool to check to see if the name you want is available, or if it is already owned by someone else. If a domain is available, you will be asked to buy or register. You can see the option to transferA domain listed instead. If you have a domain name with a registrar, and later decide you want to move, or transfer the domain to another registrar different services to get you the option. But you should really own the domain name to be able to transfer it to. Many people made the mistake to think that if they choose to transfer, the domain will be taken away from it's current owner and he gave them -it is simply not possible, nor would you want done with your own domain!

So then, who owns the domain name I want? And how can I get it? there are still questions that are more often heard. There is a tool called a WHOIS Lookup who can tell what is currently called owning a domain and WHOIS tools can be found on the web – search for them on Google.com and you'll see. Buying a domain that is currently owned by someone else is no more ofquestion. Many domain owners are willing to sell their domains, and often list of domains for sale with multiple domain sale and auction services. There are also services that will accept domain an order for a. This service allows you to go with them to list the desired domain, and if that domain expires and is available, the service will attempt to register it for you. These systems work like a lottery – or more precisely, like a concert ticketsystem. When tickets go on sale, are all trying to front row center seat to get, but only one can get. Drop or temporary services do the same thing, all competing for the same domain name. If you choose to try for an expired domain, research many of these services and register with as many as you can. Remember, there is sometimes a fee above and beyond the registration price when you use one of these services.

How do you keep your domainname in good health (or the care and feeding of a domain name).

In the first place, now that you have your domain name, be sure not to lose it! The most common way for people to move domain name to lose a by not only that it fell. If you register the domain name, you will be asked to e-mail contact to provide an administration. All future correspondence regarding your domain name will be sent to the address, including expiration notices. If you change email addresses and your work address with your domain registrar will notice never reached. Likewise, you should always update any change of physical address or phone number with your domain registrar, just in case. Place your registrar on your list of places you would light if you were to move, and you will avoid this common trap.

Another common way to run into trouble by falling victim to a competing registrar's ads. Sometimesunscrupulous companies will send e-mail or physical letters to inform you that your domain expires soon, and ask you to renew it by transferring it into their domain system. These letters can be very convincing, persuasive domain owners that they must follow the instructions in the letter or they will lose the domain name. Often these cheaters requires a higher amount than your real registrar, and do not offer a refund once you have them pay for a transfer, even if you do not use it. The best way to get this scam to be avoided, just to know what your agent, and only respond to a request from them. Keep a copy of your initial registration letter in your files so you can refer to it later if you have any doubts.

The Domain Name System has really evolved since its inception, and now with a domain name has a standard for individuals and businesses. Your domain name is your personality, your identity, yourcalling card in the Internet world. Choose it wisely and care for them and you will spend many happy years together!

Domain names are basically your online address. When people type in the address bar it takes to bring it into your website, what is your space on the web. Anyone can make a name buying their own domain if you are not licensed a special, and they are usually very cheap.

Many webmasters or bloggers prefer not domain names to get their own, and will instead operate their business or blog under a subdomain. That's good, but if you're seriousabout making money online, then you should definitely consider investing in a domain name.

So why you have your own domain.

There are many reasons why. The main reason is because it just looks more professional, while a subdomain can tell your users that you are not very serious about your business.

Plus your own domain name will be much easier for others to remember, as opposed to a subdomain, whichincludes your domain, plus the domain of the site where your blog or website is hosted. For example, a unique domain name would you look like this: "yourdomain.com", where as a subdomain would look like this: yourdomain.mydomain.com. See the difference? Your own domain is much shorter, plus it will be easier to remember.

Another great reason why you should invest in your own domain is because the site is hosting a free site to decideto quit in the future. That means you want all about rebooting. You can always use redirects, but the tape would not be worth it. So it's best to start it off right.

You can not have a hosting account, unless you have your own domain name. This means that you name service provider to use the free hosting of the sub-domain. This hosting is often not reliable, which means your site could be down a lot. It looks very bad for business when a clienttrying to make a purchase, but was unable to because the site is. It can destroy your reputation and cause you to lose lots of money.

But when you have your own domain, you can create your own hosting with a reliable hosting company. Most of them have a 99.9 per cent to time guarantee. This means your site will hardly ever be off and you can make a reliable business online contacts.

What Domain Name to a

Domain namespurchased at the domain name registrars. Just use the search engines to help a man you want. Personally I prefer GoDaddy, simply because they are cheap web hosting it super easy to get started with their offer.

If you're looking for a website, many of us simply enter the name of a company or product, followed by. Com. We accept that we will find the site we want, and it often works. How would your customers find you online? Will they all go the same thing, or is there more than 'identity' to trying to make them?

Did you know that your site can have multiple domain names pointing to all the same? There are several reasons you may be more URL's having. For example, youURLs can register your company name, product name, description and keywords. They could all point to a unique location, or they could all point to the same site or a specific landing pages within a site.

Me, recently received a replacement glass top for sale for my Microwave. (Have you ever seen what happens when a heavy piece of glass, a brick floor hits It's actually kind of spectacular,? Although I do not recommend you try it) I figured that I have a few machine shops and would call.a replacement in no time. But everyone said it would be weeks the tab I need to get. I was online and ended up at a place called MicrowaveGlassTray.com. Really. I have the subject in a few days.

The microwave store I bought was not the name of Microwave glass tray. They may have several domains registered with keywords for the various products and services they offer. I found them because I was looking for a microwave glass tray. Having keywords that your customers searchYour domain name will help your ranking in search results. And, some people might stumble on your site by typing in keywords with a com at the end ..

You might want to misspell your name or corporate name to register, so that those in the wrong spelling of your company's name, for example, still your site accessible. If you are Web URLs, you can use both the old and new names pointing to the new site.

The mechanics of this is simple. An easy wayconfigured to send with your domain registrar is. This is the place where you are registered and selected the domain name. Some will allow you a URL to supervise the domain name you registered.

Make it easy for your customers to remember through the use of simple, descriptive URL's – and using more than one, as it will help customers find you.

I have a website with domain name sample domain1 which is well indexed by all major search engines . Now due to the poor service provided to me by my web hoster I have taken a domain named sample domain 2 under another web hoster . Sample domain 1 and sample domain 2 are identical in content ( not even the minute change ) . The question is if I add /change the heading of my website in my meta tags like this :— sample domain 1/sample domain 2 . WHAT WILL HAPPEN ? Will I be penalised ? Since I have paid the annual fee to the service provider of sample domain 1 , I would like the site to run there till it expires .Should I submit sample domain 2 to the search engines as well ? Sample domain 2 is now showing –the site does not exist .
Would be grateful for a good answer
