Godaddy doesn’t offer a free domain, but you can get one for $2.19 if you’re buying hosting from them, plus they also have a 20% sale at the moment.
Most hosting companies give you about the same thing for about the same price. I’ve been with GoDaddy for years because a) the uptime is almost 100% (no site is up every second for decades, but I’ve never found one of my sites unreachable) and b) their tech support is great. Even when I asked a really stupid question (like asking someone where a building is when you’re standing in front of it) they treated me like a customer, not like the idiot I was at the moment.
They can give you anything from a small cheap shared site (Windows or Linux, your choice) to a dedicated server farm with your own connection to the backbone – whatever you want to pay for. (Cheap sites – probably more than enough for your need, start at a little over $4/month.) The domain name, of course, is extra – you’re buying that from ICANN.
As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website: 1- Buy a domain name. To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.
If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.

If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months’ time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I’ve been using http://www.virgohosting.com for quite a while and they’re doing really good. They also have a feature called Fantastico in their control panel where you can install content management scripts very easily. You can choose from one of the content management scripts for your main website and one of the forum alternatives for the members forum. Good luck.
A clan for what? Depending on for what then you may want different things. If it is for something like “runescape” then you should defiantly get a free site seeing as it is just a stupid game (in my opinion). If it is your first site making, I would not recommend flipping domains back and forth trying to make money off hosting so you can make that $8.95 each year for a .com domain. If you want a free domain you can use a .ucoz domain. It’s free and has options like a front page and a forum. But this would cause a ruckus because there designing tools are hard to manage if it’s your first time using their site. Practice makes perfect though.
